STAYING WELL TIPS & TOOLS
MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS
Good mental health means more than just the absence of illness - it’s about feeling well in yourself, being able to cope with life’s ups and downs, working towards your goals, and feeling connected to your community. It’s having the resilience and support you need to live life in a way that’s meaningful to you.
But sometimes, life gets overwhelming. You might feel like you’re not coping, or that everyday challenges are just too much. If these feelings continue for more than a week, it may be a sign that you need support. Reaching out to your GP or a trusted mental health professional can be the first step towards feeling better.
At ConnectWell, we believe that mental health recovery is possible for everyone. Recovery isn’t a straight path - it’s a deeply personal journey of healing, learning, and growth. What helps one person might not help another, and that’s okay. But what can make a difference is access to the right supports, clear and compassionate information, and opportunities to learn more about yourself and your mental health.
You are not alone. Support is out there, and recovery is not only possible - it’s within reach.
If you’re looking for a kind, understanding space to talk and connect, we’d love to welcome you to one of our Peer Support Groups.

Wellness Tools
Wellness tools are the everyday actions, supports, and practices that help you stay well and feel more balanced. They’re unique to each person, but the goal is the same: to build a personal “toolkit” you can draw from when life feels challenging, stressful, or overwhelming.
Building Resilliance & Wellbeing
Resilience is our ability to bounce back after challenges, adapt to change, and keep going when things feel hard. It doesn’t mean we never struggle - it means we learn how to support ourselves through tough times and come out the other side with new understanding or strength.
Atomic Habits
The focus isn’t on changing everything at once—it’s about shifting your routine in manageable ways that help you become the person you want to be.
Building Supportive Connections
Whether you're starting your wellness journey or have been walking the path for some time, having supportive relationships around you can make all the difference.

WHAT IS WELLBEING?
Wellbeing is about feeling good in yourself and in your life - not just in the moment, but over time. It’s about having the energy to face the day, feeling connected to the people around you, and having a sense of purpose and hope for the future.
When our wellbeing is strong, we can cope better with stress, enjoy everyday activities, and bounce back from life’s challenges. But wellbeing doesn’t just happen - it’s something we build through the choices we make and the supports we have around us.
Many things can influence your wellbeing - from relationships, food and sleep, to your job, finances, environment, and sense of belonging. The good news is that small, everyday actions can make a big difference.
Taking care of your wellbeing is one of the most important things you can do for your mental health - it’s something we all deserve.

Recovery is not linear, it's a journey, not a destination.
TIPS TO SUPPORT YOUR WELL-BEING
Taking care of your well-being doesn’t have to mean big changes. Sometimes it’s the small, everyday actions that help the most. Here are a few gentle reminders that can make a real difference over time:
✨ Be Active in a Way That Works for You
Movement helps lift your mood - and it doesn’t have to be intense. A short walk, dancing to music, gardening, or even tidying up can get your body moving and boost your energy. Just 10 minutes a day can make a big difference.
🤝 Stay Connected
Spending time with others - even just a quick chat with a friend or family member - can lift your spirits and ease feelings of loneliness. Whether it’s face-to-face, over the phone, or online, connection really matters.
🕒 Keep a Simple Routine
Having a basic daily routine can give your day structure and help you feel more in control. Even small goals, like getting dressed or making a cup of tea at the same time each day, can bring a sense of calm and achievement.
🥗 Eat to Nourish, Not Perfectly
Try to include a few fresh foods during your day - fruits, vegetables, or a home-cooked meal when you can. Don’t worry about being perfect. Making small changes can really help with how you feel, both physically and mentally.
🧠 Shift Unhelpful Thoughts
Our thoughts can have a big impact on how we feel. When you notice a negative thought, take a moment to pause and gently ask: Is there another way to look at this? Reframing doesn’t mean ignoring problems, but it can help ease the pressure.
😴 Protect Your Sleep
Good sleep is the foundation of our well-being. Try to stick to a regular sleep routine, limit screen time before bed, and create a space that feels calm and restful. Even small improvements to your sleep can help you feel stronger and more focused.
🚫 Cut Back on Unhelpful Habits
Habits like smoking, drinking too much alcohol, or relying on caffeine can take a toll on your well-being over time. Try making one small change at a time - even a little progress can lift your mood and energy levels.
🎨 Make Time for You
Whether it’s reading, painting, learning something new, or simply doing nothing at all - give yourself permission to do something just for you. These moments help recharge your batteries and remind you of what brings you joy.
"Hope is seeing the light in spite of it being surrounded by darkness"

NAVIGATING LIFE WITH SELF AWARENESS AND SUPPORT
Mental health wellbeing is not a fixed destination - it’s something that shifts and evolves with life’s changes. It’s about developing a deeper awareness of what helps you stay grounded, connected, and energised.
Wellbeing includes how you care for your emotional world, how you respond to life’s challenges, and how you find meaning and joy in everyday moments. It grows stronger through self-awareness, small consistent actions, and supportive relationships.
By exploring what works for you - whether that’s creative expression, quiet time, community connection, or setting boundaries - you begin to shape a foundation that can carry you through both calm and difficult times.
When we stay curious about our inner world and open to support from others, we’re better equipped to navigate life’s ups and downs with resilience and compassion.
